![]() ![]() Add the following after setup.exe: -lgntforceIt should then look something like this:G setup.exe -lgntforcePress OK to install the game and do a full install.Install the patch.Run unSafedisc.exe, browse to the game directory and select the game directory, rename SHOCK2.EXE and rename testme.exe to NoCD.exe to the game directory, run it and click on Apply patch.Install mods (make sure Zombe's Mod Manager is the first one installed).Install Enhanced Cutscenes.Run the Mod Manager, activate the mods you wish to use and start the game (Ctrl+S).NOTE: You may need to keep the iso mounted as the NoCD Crack doesn't always work.I believe you can get the NoCD (by DUCK) and unSafedisc (v1.5.5?) from GCW. ![]() This will return you to the Run dialogue box. Give me 10 mins or so and I'll post it.*some minutes later*Righto, this method assumes that you've made an iso and are using a virtual drive, your precious CD now stored safely away from the harsh Welsh weather and Joe Calzaghe's fists. Here's what I do:Mount the iso, then go to Start -> Run -> Browse, browse to your virtual drive and select setup.exe. It may be a little long-winded, but it works for me. I'll copy out the method I use to install it on XP Pro. The game will autosave in the last available slot (like it's supposed to) when moving to a new level, but if I press Alt + S it quicksaves to both slot 10 and the autosave slot! Bizarrely, if I quicksave (which, as I've said, saves to both slots), move to a new level (which leaves the quicksave in slot 10 intact but autosaves to the last slot, like it's supposed to) and then quickload, the autosave in the last slot is replaced by the quicksave that's also in slot 10, even though I've just loaded and not saved! It's madness, and is driving me potty.I've tried every combination I can think of to get this to work. Added bind s+alt "shk_save_game 10" and bind l+alt "shk_load_game 10" to user.bnd and of these methods works. Added bind s+alt "shk_save_game 10" and bind l+alt "shk_load_game 10" to user.bnd.4. Edited the existing bind s+alt and bind l+alt entries in user.bnd and user2.bnd.3. Edited the existing bind s+alt and bind l+alt entries in user.bnd.2. For example, to save to slot 10 instead, add the following lines to your user.bnd file:bind s+alt "shk_save_game 10"bind l+alt "shk_load_game 10"Using slot 10 to make regular saves will now, of course, over-write your quick-saves, but making level transitions will not.'I used the DOS prompt to perform my edits, but to no avail. Here's what I've tried:1. In order to avoid this problem, you can rebind the quick-save and load keys (alt-S and alt-L) to save to a different save-slot. So quick-saved games are often overwritten by other games (for example, whenever you change a level or load a different save game). ![]() This slot is also used by the regular save/load system. I'll be sure to check these out when I get a moment. One thing I simply cannot get to work, and I've been trying to on and off for years, literally years, is this bit in the patch readme:'Quick-save and Auto-Save overwriteSystem Shock 2's quick-save and quick-load system uses the same save-slot as the autosave system. ![]()
